5 Miniatures

Because of the great success of the “Cinq Nouvelles” for 4 horns (opus 34a, 1947 - Editions Bim, CO 18), I was inspired to write this small picturesque piece for the same instrumentation. One could imagine the little March as a Parade of the Ants; the Chant sentimental as the song of an amorous Tomcat, interrupted by indignant cats; the Scherzo as a lit­tle mouseballet; the Valse ironique as the dance of a duck ballerina; and the Finale as the triumphant marching away of the whole menagerie.
