Concertino Piccolo

When Claude Rippas asked me to compose something for his trumpet ensemble, I was immediately fascinated by this unusual formation. I had the idea of using the five trumpets in such a way as to create a concertino in three movements for two concertante piccolo trumpets in A, accompanied by three trumpets in C. The first movement, «Allegro» is framed by an «Andante maestoso». The second joins a lyric «Andante» with a «Presto» scherzo. This little piece finishes with a Rondo «Allegro molto vivace», which displays all the virtuoso resources of the instruments.
